Biographical/Historical Note
Anne Witten was born in 1942 in Washington, D. C. She graduated from University of Colorado in 1964 and received her PhD from Boston University in 1981. She taught at the University of Maine at Augusta and at the University of New England. She also owned and managed Erebus Press in New York City and worked in journalism for 18 years. Her poetry was largely oral, rather than printed. She died on Peaks Island in 1992.
