Collection Scope and Content

This collection includes correspondence (1976-1987), articles, photographs, and a speech. All materials are mostly concerned with the donation of the Sinon-Reyher Collection to Westbrook College and the Maine Women Writers Collection in 1978. There is documentation including detailed descriptions and photographs of the artifacts in the collection and information on the first exhibition of the collection in 1978.

Biographical/Historical Note

The Sinon-Reyher Collection of Americana and Africana reflects a lifetime of collecting by Rebecca Reyher along with her friend, Margarethe Sinon. Reyher traveled in Africa writing articles and a book called Zulu woman. She collected artifacts during her travels in Africa.
